We understand that all businesses create environmental and social impact through their activities. Ours is no exception. However, here at Quest Wellington, we have started developing the following environmental policy which is based on a commitment to improving our environmental performance across all areas of our business practice, and in the services we offer. Our sustainability will be an ongoing journey which will improve with time and experience. We try to actively reduce any adverse effects through buying wisely, using resources efficiently, disposing of waste responsibly, and providing an environmentally and socially responsible experience to our guests.
Actions that Quest Wellington are taking include:
We offer guests a towel and linen change option to help reduce energy and water use.
Low-energy light bulbs are now installed in 70% of our apartments.
Guests are encouraged to use our recycle bins for the disposal of paper, glass, plastic, and tin. White plastic bags are kept in the kitchen cupboard for recycling.
“Second Treasures” will remove all non-organic products such as computers and mobile phones that are in working condition and can recycled for spare parts.

Quest branded ammenities are sourced from Australian or New Zealand suppliers. All plastic bottles are made from council approved recyclable plastic and formulations used for skin and hair products being are made with GE free ingredients and are biodegradable.
Complimentary use of the guest computer in reception is offered for daily news updates rather than requesting newspapers.
Staff encouraged not to print any unnecessary emails and where possible print using recycled/double sided paper.
Purchase supplies only from producers who endorse environmentally-friendly practices and who offer biodegradable items.
Installing hoods/timers on exterior lighting so as not to disturb neighbours. Exterior lighting automatically switches off at midnight and thereafter operates on sensors.
Sourcing materials from local or Fair Trade producers to reduce carbon emissions.
Using natural air-freshening products instead of chemical ones
Donating supplementary products to The Salvation Army
Donating complimentary room nights to the House of Travel/Hospice New Zealand Charity for accommodation for it's caregivers/fund raising events
Offering employment/career opportunities to local residents first, and where possible through Ministry of Social Development
Training staff in energy saving practices i.e. switching off lights, heating and towel rails in unoccupied rooms.
Guests are encouraged not to use their vehicles in Wellington City.Everything is within walking distance and for venturing further out there is a regular bus, train andd ferry service.
Any fridges, washing machines or dryers that are replaced have a high energy saving rating
